An Introduction from the author of Meditation-all-you-need
Hello there, and welcome !
I would like give you an introduction to myself, and tell you how I come to be creating this Meditation-all-you-need webpage at this time.
My name is Ian Kerr, and I am a retired Family Practice Physician.
Just after completing my Medical training I did further post graduate work in various areas, one of which was Anaesthesia.
The particular Specialist that I was studying with had a special interest in how Meditation and Hypnosis could affect health, and gave me an informative introduction to both. Particularly how they could shorten recovery time from operations, and lessen the need for pain medications.
The results that he was able to show me convinced me that meditation could be a very powerful tool, with health benefits that could be measured and proved.
This impressed me so much that, since that time, I have been on a never-ending-search to find out more and more, about many different methods of meditation.
Along the way, I have had introductions to,and been involved with, many different meditation teachers and organisations, the most important of which I would like to list here in this introduction, and this will also be a way of saying thank you to them all, for making Meditation-all-you-need possible.
Ones that I have had an introduction to and been PERSONALLY involved with as teachers include ( in alphabetical order )-
.............The ARICA Organisation
.............Baba Ram Dass (Richard Alpert)
.............The Esalen Institute (especially Al Drucker, Michael Murphy and Stan Grof)
.............The Emissaries
.............Gabriel Dinim
.............The Reverend Lama teachers at The Library of Tibetan Works and Archives at Gangchen Kyishong, near Dharamsala in the Himalayas
.............Mad Bear, Sun bear and Wabun (North American Indian Medicine people and teachers)
.............The Mexican Sun Meditation Organisation
.............Paul Horn (Transcendental Meditation teacher and word class flute player)
.............Pir Vilayat Khan and Reshad Feild (Sufi teachers)
.............My various Tai-Chi teachers throughout the years.
Further ones that I have studied and drawn inspiration and learning from include -
------Buddhist, Zen, Sufi Daoist, Hindu, Christian and Jewish Philosophies
------His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama - Tenzin Gyatso
------The Hopis
------Idries Shah
------Joseph Campbell
------Mahareshi Mahesh Yogi and the TM Organisation
------The Native American Church
------Sattya Sai Baba
------Steve Gaskin and The Farm
------The Six Nations of the Iroquois
------The Vedas and the Upanishads
- to all of whom I give heartfelt and respectful deep thanks.
So therefore, over the years I have gathered a whole pile of varied information about meditation in all its many different forms and techniques.
Now I have reached a time in my life that I feel that all this, (my gathered information about meditation), should be freely introduced and be available to anyone, rather than it just dying with me.
Therefore this website is to be very much like a huge buffet...you eat as much or as little as you want !...you come back for more anytime that you want !...and you can try as many new things as you want !
It is aimed both at people who are new to meditation, and also at more experienced meditators.
There are sections for people of all levels
The main thing to say in this introduction is - ENJOY the Meditation-all-you-need website, explore around it as it is being continuously expanded--- return often to see what has changed---and also I have a newsletter to let you know 'what's new' as it occurs.

Here
to find out more about this newsletter, or Ezine, which is called MeditatEzine.
