RELAXATION MEDITATION FOR BEGINNERS - To meditate your mind needs to relax by 100 percent. For a beginner it is not an easy task to relax and it may take quite some practice to really learn relaxation following which you will need to learn to concentrate and only them can your practice relaxation meditation.

The difficulty to master either relaxation and meditation at the time with patience required is probably the reason why most people cannot sustain their efforts to meditate.

The following are some tips for meditation relaxation:

  1. Make relaxation meditation a part of your regular routine. Be sure to try meditation to relax at least twice a day without fail.
  2. Learn to focus on your breath. In order to move closer to the state of Dhyana this is very important because it teaches you to relax and rest your muscles and is the biggest lesson towards focusing your mind.
  3. Stretch your body and muscles to the maximum extent possible and sit or lie down in a comfortable position. This helps you to focus towards within your mind like focusing inwards.
  4. Meditation requires not just focus but also purpose. So be sure to be determined and deliberate in the process of meditating.
  5. Trust me this is not an easy process and takes oodles of patience and lots of purpose to stick on to the process and never be under the impression that this is something that you can learn overnight.
  6. When you think that you may lose focus stop thinking of everything else and just focus completely on the way you inhale and exhale.
  7. Try to experiment on various techniques and positions till you find the one that you are able to concentrates the best and most easily.
  8. Don’t be taken in by any book or CD on meditation. Only you can decide what is best for you. There is no one best way for meditation. To each his own is what works here. So look for relaxation music meditation that fits you best.
  9. One way to handle this is to concentrate on your mind first and once you relax focus on each part of your body starting from the tip of your toes and moving upwards but in very slow pace.
  10. Before beginning meditation, select a room or a cozy corner in your home which is free from external disturbances to meditate.
  11. Do some researches on the ways and means to meditate till you find the one that you think will suit you best.
