My Secret Weapon !This page tells you what was "My Secret Weapon" that allowed me to create this website As I mentioned in the Introduction (About Me) page, I am a retired Physician - so "weapons" are definitely not my thing - so don't get "freaked out" by this idea - it will all become clear as you read this page further ! Anyway therefore, throughout my working life I have learned and practised a lot of things that are concerned with - or connected to - healthcare, in all its aspects.
I felt that it would be good to share some of that information, so that other people could benefit from it. I thought for a long time, and decided that an Ebook would be a good way to go.
However, I had one problem - I was virtually computer illiterate ! I hadn't realised yet that what I needed was my own Secret Weapon ! Oh sure - I could do Email, and I could browse the Web, and I understood how to 'cut, copy, and paste' - but that really was about my limit !
You have to remember that I was born long before the Computer Age - more like in the "Carrier Pigeon" Age ! So a lot of computer stuff was way beyond me - for example HTML could have stood for How To Mystify Life, for all I knew ! And to see the speed of my two-finger-typing would make you laugh - (or cry !!). What I really needed, but didn't realise yet, was some sort of resource that could enable me to concentrate on "content" - but without getting bogged down with the "techie" stuff - (namely My Secret Weapon). Anyway, I had all this information that I wanted to get down in print - but didn't know how to do that effectively - so, believe it or not - I slowly typed up a complete Ebook outline in my Yahoo Mail "Compose" section, and as I finished each page, I put it into the "Draft" section !
Finally I had a whole Ebook laid out - chapter by chapter - and all in my Yahoo Mail "Draft" section, it was on "Overweight Children - Complete Information"....and is still there in my Yahoo Mail ! (Although I have since had it also transferred to a CD....a friend showed me how to do this !)
So I had my Ebook draft - but how the heck was I going to get it into an actual Ebook ?
I surfed and surfed, and came up with lots of companies with names like;- "How to have an Ebook up and running in 7 days "...."The Dummies' Guide to Ebook Publishing"...."Complete Ebook Information"....and so on and so on, (but unfortunately not 'my Secret Weapon' yet !)
I explored many of these, but they all had instructions that could have been in Martian, for all I knew - I couln't understand 90 percent of what they were saying...."now convert your Wordpad Rich text file into HTML or PDF format and upload it to our dedicated 128 bit site, but make sure your LAN settings match your ISP with SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0 and PCT 1.0"......Whaaaat ?
Along the way I found some companies that would do the whole job for me - but it was going to cost me a minimum of $500, and usually nearer to $1000, for them to do this - plus I would have to "Purchase a Domain and Hosting" and several other things that were all going to cost me extra money, and yet I would be none the wiser in the future about how to create and get an Ebook set up - to use for ideas for other Ebooks that I had planned. Therefore I decided to put the Ebook idea "on the back burner" for the time being, and try to learn a bit more about how to do things on the Internet.
Almost needless to say, I got caught up in several Internet "Get Rich Quick" schemes.....spent and lost huge amounts of money in chasing these 'rainbows'....and never earned a single penny !! (Partly because I didn't have a Secret Weapon !)
Although I will admit, I was making about $50 per month from doing online Surveys, but that was not going to make me rich !
Along the way I had realised that if I could put my information in the form of a Website, then it had a better chance of being seen than in an Ebook format - but once again...I had no idea how to do that....(I didn't have my secret weapon !)....so back to surfing and looking at different companies that promised to create a Website for me and set it up.
They all seemed to be very expensive to me - for what they were offering - and there were always extra charges that I would have to pay as I went along, and the majority also assumed that I knew all about HTML and other such complicated stuff !
Finally I settled on one company that seemed a little bit better than some of the others - although it was still obvious that I was going to have to pay about $500 to start, and then pay extra to have my information transcribed into HTML, and further costs 'down the line' and they were still a bit too technical in their instructions for me to be able to do everything without either a lot of study, or else a lot of help from friends.
Luckily, the day before I was going to sign up with this company, I literally stumbled by accident onto the Website of a company that sounded 100 percent different from all of the others - it did not require that you had any Internet knowledge at all - it seemed to make the 'customer' the important thing - and it did not promise overnight riches like many of the others....but just guaranteed that if you put in the work in creating the "content" of your Website, and progressed carefully and slowly, then they would help you build a Quality Website that would perform much better because of just that - it would be the best quality !
Plus - amazingly - it was gong to be a LOT cheaper than all of the others, and with no extra costs or hidden expenses down the road !

In addition, it was stated by a Canadian ex-Physician - Dr Ken Evoy, and being an ex-Physician myself, that gave me a good feeling. Especially as all Physicians - when they qualify fom medical school - swear an oath called the Hippocratic Oath, and the main message of that oath, (originally in Latin) - is Primum Non Nocere - which is roughly translated as Firstly - do no harm So I felt as though I would be in good hands, and signed up with them.
The name of this company is Sitesell - this is one of their logos on the left - and they have been truly amazing ! Truly - My Secret Weapon ! The foundation of of this company is a 10 step system called Site Build It ! or SBI for short - that takes you by the hand and shows you slowly, step-by-step, click-by-click, how to build your website - with both printed lessons and videos to guide you every step of the way, as fast or as slow as you want, and is geared both for absolute beginners like me, and more advanced 'techie' types. The information that they give you access to is truly astounding, and has to be seen to be believed - they really are "My Secret Weapon !" And about six weeks ago , when I was having problems (which turned out to be coming from the computer that I was using), SBI's support staff were so cheerfully helpful and complete in their instructions for me to correct the problem, that was so very refreshing to find, in this day and age. Along the way the website changed from being about Overweight Children - to Meditation - perhaps Overweight Children will be my next Website !
