Passive Meditation

I have been involved with passive meditation for a little over two years and could not imagine living without it, daily. I "sit" for 30-60 minutes a day. At first it was tough getting myself to engage in the practice but as time went on it not only got easier and easier it got more and more necessary to accomplish every day. Rather than dread the task I look forward to it as a reward. Believing I am still in the infancy of practice gives me a greatest desire to continue.
I found a book by Suzuki, "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind" very useful in beginning my practice. Suggestions like keeping your back straight seemed impossible for the first few months, but now I understand why it is necessary - it is no longer a distraction and the fidgeting goes away. Simple things like that are discussed in the book. A great primmer and recommended for those who are starting to meditate.
(Dear Brahma - beautiful graphic !
I agree wholeheartedly..."Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind" is an excellent book - worth having.
Many thanks for your input......Ian)
