Stress - Guided Meditation 6
This is a guided meditation that benefits stress - which is obviously something that we all have problems with from time to time.

This meditation will be a little bit different from the previous ones, because I will be including elements of other systems into it, as well as simple guided meditation.
Let me explain what I mean in greater detail;-
Firstly - I will be including techniques of Autogenic Training - this is a sort of meditation technique that uses repetitions of several different phrases as a kind of 'autosuggestion.'
This has been found to be useful in balancing the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic parts of our nervous System - the Sympathetic is invoved with anger, and the so-called 'fight or flight reaction' - and the Parasympathetic is involved with rest and relaxation and digestion and relief from stress
Secondly - I will be using Coueism - this is another type of autosuggestion that was made popular by a French Psychologist called Emile Coue - who lived between 1857 and 1926.
He is remembered most for his famous autosuggestion example, (that he wanted his patients to repeat daily, as soon as they got up in the morning, and again at bedtime) - "Every day - in every way - I am getting better and better."
It works just as well now as it did back then - so we will include it !
Thirdly - I will be using some techniques of Ericksonian Therapy.
Dr. Milton Erickson was a very famous Psychiatrist who pioneered what he called "Indirect Trance" - this was a very powerful yet gentle form of hypnosis-like suggestions that can be very useful.
Incidentally, he was not only the founding president of The American Society for Clinical Hypnosis - but for nearly all of his adult life he was confined to a wheelchair because of having had Polio as a teenager.
And finally Fourthly - a brief technique taken from NLP - (whose full name is Neuro-Linguistic Programming) -which is a modern system that believes that your perception of the world is shaped by your thoughts, words and gestures all interacting together - and therefore by changing your outlook on one or more of these, your whole attitude to the world can be improved.

This Stress meditation does not work so well if you do it by yourself - it is much more effective as a Guided Meditation, which is why I have included it here.
So as with the other Guided meditations, you will need a guide/reader, and it is a good idea to copy and print the stress benefit meditation instructions, instead of reading them from off the screen.

These are obviously much more effective.
So, if you are ready for the possibility of minimising how stress can affect you - then let's 'get the ball rolling !'
O.K. ? Then - one - two - three - go !
As with all of the other meditations, gently close your
eyes, and.....first of all try to let your body relax as much
as possible.......and let your breathing become slow and easy
and deep....relax more and more and more...perhaps allow
yourself to go into a light trance-like state....or let
yourself learn how to be as relaxed as that......allow your
left arm and hand to feel heavy and warm......just say to
yourself - that my left arm is heavy and warm......my left arm
is heavy and warm.......and just feel how heavy and warm your
left arm feels......perhaps you are feeling just how relaxed
you are......or how my words are making it possible for you to
be in such a deeply calm and peaceful state......so why not let
both of your arms and your legs feel heavy and
warm........let your subconscious mind tell you..." my arms and
legs are heavy and warm"...... and as my arms and legs are
heavy and warm....my heartbeat is calm and regular......and my
heartbeat is calm and regular......and as my heartbeat is calm
and regular.....my solar plexus is warm and comfortable....
.......my solar plexus is warm.....and comfortable......and
while my solar plexus is warm and comfortable.......I can find
it easy to believe that no stress is affecting me at this
present time....no stress affects me at the present time....no
stress affects me...... and every day....I can believe that I
will be less and less affected by stress.....every day I will
get better and better.....better and better.....every day in
every way I am getting better and better....and I could say
that to myself every morning....and every evening....and I
could be getting better and better......every day and in
everyway....but especially I could be able to deal with stress
better and better......in every way....and in every day
.......and if I keep my eyes closed and gently turn my eyes as
if I were going to look upwards...I would possible be able to
see how I would be able to deal with stress every day...
.....see me better and better.......if I want to I can look
upwards with my eyes closed and see that happening....see
myself as a stress-free person......and then as I bring my eyes
down again to the normal closed position....the normal
position.....I can still feel my left arm and hand heavy
and warm....my left arm heavy and warm....and my left arm heavy
and warm.......and if I gently keep my eyes closed and imagine
that I am slowly looking from the left to the right...... and
slowly looking from the right to the left and back again....and
backwards and forwards to left and to right....I can hear that
the words that are being said to me can be helping me to deal
with stress...better and better......and I can hear that.....
as I listen to the words....I am getting better and better...
every day.....in every way ...better and better......then I can
let my eyes be still again....... and if I want to.....I can
let both my arms and my legs feel even more heavy and
warm....my arms and legs are heavy and warm.....and my arms and
legs are heavy and warm....and my heartbeat is calm and
regular......my heartbeat is calm and regular......and as my
heartbeat is calm and regular.... I can feel a comfortable
warmth in my solar plexus.......my solar plexus is
warm......and comfortable.....and my solar plexus is
warm.......and if I wish....I can keep my eyes closed....and I
could imagine that I am looking down......I can imagine that I
am slowly looking down and to the right...and then down and to
the left...and backwards and forwards from the right to the
left....and as I am imagining looking down and from the right
to the left....backwards and forwards.....it is easy to tell
myself that I could deal with any stress much better in the
future.....much better and better every day.......I can hear my
unconscious mind telling my conscious mind that I now can deal
with stress much better now.............and I can tell myself
that.... ......and as I look from left to right and back
again.......and it could be possible for me to say to myself
every day......that every day, in every way, I am getting
better and better......I could ask my mind if I would be
willing to say that to myself morning and evening....and every
day..... I can feel that my body has the possibility to not
feel concerned about stress in the future........I can get a
grip on how to deal with stress......and as if my mind had told
me that it has grasped the feeling of how to deal with
stress.....and as I allow my eyes to come back to their normal
position....I am sure that I can deal with stress better and
better each day.......and that may make me feel vey happy and
light.......light and happy......and at the same time my arms
and legs begin to feel light and relaxed......and lighter and
tension free and relaxed......and my whole body can feel happy
and calm.......as I slowly come back to the here and now
......full of confidence that when I finally open my eyes.....
it could be fully possible for me to be much much less affected
by stress....every day....in every way.....and when I am ready
I will open my eyes and give a great big stress free
stretch.....and will be fully awake and alert.
I am sure that at the moment you feel very stress-free - and like the other meditations - the more often you do them, the more powerful they are.
